At Erinvale, You’re Spoilt for Choice

At Erinvale, You’re Spoilt for Choice

When visiting Erinvale Golf and Country Estate on holiday, or even if living there permanently, you’re spoilt for choice when it comes to places to visit and things to do.

Once of the most attractive features of Erinvale, is its’ proximity to world-class attractions.

Treat yourself to a visit to one of the local historic wine farms.  There are a host to choose from – but you won’t have to travel far.

Just across the road is the world-famous Vergelegen Wine Estate.  The old manor house, with its’ huge camphor trees, will certainly impress, and taking the short historical tour is well worth a few hours of your time.  Finish it off with a tour to their winery, some wine tasting, or a meal at one of their restaurants.  This spectacular winery is simply a “must-see” and is literally a stone’s throw from Erinvale Golf Estate. Other wonderful alternatives include Lourensford Wine Estate, with its’ Friday evening markets (in season), wine tasting, and ever-popular Millhouse Kitchen restaurant. (https://lourensford.co.za

Morgenster Wine Estate, adjacent to Vergelegen, is also well worth a visit.  With an Italian slant, their wines and olive oils are delicious, as is the food at their restaurant. (https://morgensterestate.co.za

Feel like pampering yourself?  Why not try out the Erinvale Hotel Spa, walking distance just at the entrance to Erinvale.  Enjoy a great meal at Stefan’s, or on the Oak Terrace. (https://erinvale.co.za

Waterkloof Winery is now the home to the new Bertus Basson restaurant, Chorus.  Why not treat yourself to something truly special. (https://Waterkloofwines.co.za

Feel like taking in some scenery?  One of the most beautiful drives you will ever experience is Clarence Drive, along the coast from Gordon’s Bay, through Betty’s Bay, to Hermanus.  There are many exciting discoveries along the way on the many coastal towns.  On your return trip, travel through Grabouw and come down over Sir Lowry’s Pass (don’t forget the view stop for a photo) and take in the Helderberg Valley as you return to Somerset West.

Just a short drive away are other wonderful wineries on the way to Stellenbosch and Franchhoek.  There are too many to mention, but some of our favourites include: Ernie Els Wines (and great restaurant), Rust en Vrede (also with a stunning restaurant), Guardian Peak Restaurant, Delaire Graff Estate, Tokara, Chef’s Warehouse at Maison (Franschhoek), and another world-class restaurant – La Petite Colombe in Franschhoek (https://www.lacolombe.restaurant/la-petite-colombe).

A little further afield is Cape Town and the V&A Waterfront with all it’s wonderful shops and restaurants.  Why not try the hop-on hop-off bus and explore all the sights in and around Cape Town.

These are just some of the things to see and do when staying at Erinvale.  You are truly spoilt for choice and there is so much to do when you want a break from the challenging golf course.
